Harvest, part 1




First, Tomatoes.


These tomatoes are so red and sweet, there's no point in trying to improve on what's there.  It's best to just slice and indulge.  With bunches of fresh basil, a little balsamic vinaigrette, and a fresh loaf of bread, dinner becomes a picnic.







More things to do with tomatoes:

Italians make a simple bread and tomato soup, containing bread, tomatoes, olive oil and basil (the same things on the plate above).  They know how to keep it simple.  

I add chunks of fresh tomato to chicken sausages for moisture and flavor.  Put in some sundried tomatoes too, to absorb the juice while you they're cooking.
